The quality of these coins (including the design) was better than previous versions I've bought. There are sometimes sharp edges, so you want to avoid having them around smaller children. Otherwise they're a great buy for the price.

These coins are more Roman coins than pirate coins; you may want to consider the period they depict in case your party has a special theme.
They have the same design on both sides. It shows a classic male side; on the top there are the words "Veni Vidi Vici" (I came, I saw, I won), and on the bottom it reads MCMLXXXXIV (for 1994) - which by the way is a mistake; it should read MCMXCIV.
They are made of thin plastic, and they do not weigh much. I believe they could bend or break under a stress situation - in case they are for kid use.

We bought these coins to give to each person as they entered the party. Each person (adult) then had to barter or work to get more coins.
