Durability: (what this means)
The Good: Experience the thrill of real night vision technology.
The Bad: The display screen will leave you wanting more.
In a Nutshell: A fun and entertaining toy that will keep older kids entertained for hours. | At a Glance Ages: 8 and up Requires: 5 AAA batteries | | | Darkness Is Your Ally... With the EyeClops Night Vision goggles, your child can explore dark environments with advanced infrared technology. Set-up is easy. Simply insert five AA batteries into the battery pack at the back of the head-set, and slide the power switch to turn on the goggles. Once the screen display lights up inside of the right eye-piece, you can fit the goggles to your child's head by adjusting the soft rubber straps around top and sides. EyeClops Night Vision goggles come equipped with a hinged, flip-up eye-piece that can be opened when the goggles are turned off, or closed when the goggles are in use. Your child can choose between the maximum surveillance mode which emits a barely-visible ring of red LEDs around the eyepiece so they can see up to 50 feet in absolute darkness, or go for the stealth mode to remain completely invisible while they explore the dark landscape immediately around them. A small switch on the side of the goggle head-set allows them to switch from a black-and-white to a green screen display. Enhance Your Nighttime Stealth Operations The futuristic design of the durable plastic head-piece adds to the fun of these exciting night vision goggles. Soft rubber molding around the goggles and adjustable straps across the top and sides makes them comfortable and easy to wear. While the EyeClops Night Vision goggles provide a crisp, clear image of dark landscapes, they should always be used under adult supervision. Because the display screen is small and provides limited peripheral vision, these goggles should only be used in environments that are free of potential tripping hazards. As a nice safety feature, the goggles' handy flip-up eye-piece over the left eye provides immediate access to normal vision if your child becomes disoriented or needs to take a break from viewing through the small display screen located in the right eye-piece. Durable and lightweight, these fun goggles work so well that you might just find yourself borrowing them from your child so you can have your turn enjoying some super stealth, covert nighttime missions of you own! What's in the Box EyeClops headpiece with goggles, battery pack and adjustable straps.

Kids Totally Dig This! September 1, 2010 Zombie My daughter wanted this for Christmas. She was 10. We got this for her and OMG she LOVES it! My 6 year old son also loves it. We camp a lot and it's wonderful for that. They go animal hunting at night and have found all sorts of cool stuff wearing this. We play hide and seek with it as well. It's very fun! I recommend it.
Fun & Frivolous, but Know What You're Getting August 29, 2010 Wintermask (Sacramento, CA) What has already been said about the loss of depth perception and peripheral vision cannot be understated. I believe this product is fairly fragile, which may also be a criticism; the first one I received was completely non-operational upon arrival. The replacement works as advertised, and it is great fun walking CAREFULLY around the house in the middle of the night. One of the straps comes unattached very easily. The camera itself is blurry so only large print can be distinguished and there is no way of adjusting focus. The IR emitter cannot be turned off. It would be nice if had a passive IR mode. I rate it as a 5 educationally, because seeing "invisible" light is very interesting. Switching between what you can see with ambient light and what you can see with the IR light is really neat. If you look in a mirror while the IR emitter is on, you can see a bright light from it with the goggles. However, if you then turn to a family member, they cannot see any light coming from it at all. That is pretty cool, too. The darker the environment, the more fun this toy is.
Yup, it broke August 11, 2010 David B. Finney I have a mature 11 year old and told him about the pins in the straps breaking. I thought he would be careful enough. It broke. My wife was able to rig something that makes it work, but, the others will break as well. Piss poor engineering. It does work and he loves it, but, it needs work as a product. The company should offer a new harness or something.
CANNOT REPLACE BATTERIES! * DON'T BUY! * Waste of $$$ August 10, 2010 ALW 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product worked fairly well until it was time to change the batteries. It is impossible to change them and get all of the batteries in with the straps, wiring, etc. and compartment closed back. IMPOSSIBLE!! We will have to throw it away now and can't believe they designed it this way. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!
These are awesome! June 7, 2010 philyodaddy (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These are awesome. I have 0 use for them as I live in New York City, but what guy in his 20s wouldn't want to own Night Vision Goggles? My girlfriend gave them to me for my birthday after Amazon smartly had them on my recommended page for 6 months and I wouldn't stop talking about them. I have only really used them when turning out the lights and impressing my friends, but they are awesome and I fully recommend the purchase if you have expendable income.
